'The Fireman's Breakfast' is a fundraiser for our Fire Department. Not only do our volunteer firemen put out fires, give first aid and rescue kittens from tree tops, these guys can cook. Breakfast, at eight dollars for adults, includes scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bacon, plain and blueberry pancakes, muffins, rosemary potatoes, orange juice and coffee. Locals in the know turn out for the great food and cheerful atmosphere. Look for the signs in Manchester, once a month in the winter, which herald these wonderful Sunday morning starters.

I had a problem last week. I had two dolls to mail to customers. The weather was terrible, my toe had been operated on which made walking difficult, and all my driving friends were busy. What to do! I went on line and arranged for package pick up next day. My mailman came on time, picked the packages up, and delivered my incoming mail - all with a smile. Oh, and by the way, there was no extra charge for this great service!
We went to the opening of our New Library on Saturday. While we were there a retired astronaut, who lives locally, was lecturing in one room and another gentleman was giving a talk on 'colors' to children in another. The library has everything you could ask for, including computer gurus to help the tech challenged. It is within walking distance. I will make an appointment and have them help me get a handle on my Kindle.

Manchester Elementary Middle School in Vermont had their annual Halloween Parade through the town today. Here are some of the scary little Witches and Goblins who participated.
October is breast cancer awareness month so I submit this cheerful picture of survivors who participated in the Komen Race for the Cure which took place in the beautiful grounds of Hildane. I am the short woman in the black jacket. My friend Pat Du Pree looks over my shoulder.
If you are in Manchester Center, Vt. visit Hildane, the Lincoln family home. The volunteer guides give an informative and interesting tour.
